Saturday, August 22 marked the second annual, Taste of Brews Long Beach. More than 60 breweries set up their tents along the winding paths of Lighthouse Park. With gorgeous scenery in every direction including a stellar view of the iconic Queen Mary, we spent the day surrounded by people united by their love for beer.
Local festivals are a great way to gain exposure for breweries of all sizes. Beer enthusiasts are eager to taste special release beers, meet brewers and learn about different styles and techniques.
From 12-4PM there was a steady line of people eager to try what Timeless Pints had to offer. On tap were two of TP’s staple beers, A Swarm and a Hatter-Honey Blond Abbey Ale and The Bear Reader-Huckleberry Oatmeal Stout as well as a new seasonal, London Calling for Mr. Brown-English Brown Ale.
The Bear Reader is an Oatmeal Stout brewed with wild huckleberries shipped from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The English Brown Ale is made with a variety of malts including marris otter and brown. The malty and slightly sweet character is combined with fruity esters from the English ale yeast.
The Swarm and a Hatter-Honey Blond Abbey Ale, is always a crowd pleaser. Its flavor is true to its name brewed with honey malt, sweet orange peel, bravo hops and orange blossom honey. The beer is delightfully refreshing especially on a warm, summer day.
It was great to have so many beer enthusiasts in the same place, at the same time. We enjoy the Taste of Brews experience and look forward to next year’s festival!
